Small Business of the Year (Turnover up to £3 million)

The Business Person of the Year Award is open to entrants who have worked in a business for a minimum of 5 years, usually business owners and/or directors, who have brought financial and / or non-financial benefits to their organisation through their efforts.

Customer Service Award

This category is open to any organisation, irrespective of size or sector that can demonstrate commercial success and strategies for growth whilst achieving excellence in looking after its customers. The organisation must have objectives for high quality customer service and clear methods of monitoring and evaluating standards. Judges will be looking for:
- A clear focus on their customers needs and evidence of customer satisfaction.
- Strong focus on listening and acting on customers feedback while maintaining high customer satisfaction levels.
- Submissions should contain examples of how the organisation are consistently doing their best for customers and seeking to continuously improve their performance.
- Customer focused staff development & training.

Corporate Social Responsibility Award

Open to businesses of any shape or size and in any sector that can demonstrate how they make a positive impact on society/communities and/or environment. The business contribution does not have to be financial; it can be a commitment of time, resources, assets, skills, professional assistance or support that creates a positive outcome for the community. The judges will be looking for :
- Innovative CSR contributions, strategies or initiatives that have or are currently making a real difference to people at a local level
and/or
- A contribution to sustainable and/or socially responsible business practices

Innovation of the Year (Product or Service)

This award recognises a company that successfully applies any form of innovation, celebrating the ideas that have had the greatest impact on an organisation or industry. Whether the innovation is a new product, a service or a culture of improvement. The award will go to the company that can best demonstrate an innovation or innovative approach that has created competitive advantage and contributed to growth. The judges will look for:
- Evidence of how the innovation has been developed and applied to improve commercial performance
- A clearly written description of the innovation in the product, process, business model or service and its background.
- Operational effectiveness or customer engagement
- A plan for continued future implementation and development of the innovation.

Digital/Technology Company of the Year

Awarded to the organisation achieving the most stand-out accomplishment in digital product or service design, data science or technology innovation.
This category is open to pure tech and internet businesses, video games developers, media production, digital communications and marketing businesses, computing, telecoms and IT service providers, and businesses of any kind who can demonstrate how digital, data and technology have enabled them to change or grow their business, or improve people’s lives. Judging criteria will include:
- Demonstrable end-user impact or commercial success of the product or service
- Evidence of understanding users and meeting their needs
- Innovative use of data, technology or the internet to do something new or differently
- A creative, digital organisational culture and ethos

Best Business Response to the Crisis

The Covid pandemic rocked the foundations of business in the UK and around the world. Many organisations took the opportunity to make exceptional transformations which have opened new paths to profitability. This award will reward the very best business responses to the crisis

Employer of the Year

Open to all organisations - This award is for organisations who invest in their employees e.g. training, development, engagement and demonstrate commitment to high performance. The judges are looking for evidence of:
- Employ effective methods of recruitment and strategies for recruitment of under-represented groups.
- Methods of assessing skill requirements within your workforce e.g training needs analysis, skill development plans
- Employee engagement and demonstrate commitment to high performance.
- Strong leadership and management and leading by example.

Retailer of the Year (online or high street including property)

This category is open to any independent retail business in the Greater Peterborough area meeting the Awards eligibility criteria, regardless of size. The business could be operated entirely online and need not have a bricks and mortar presence, as long as it trades from Greater Peterborough. Judges will be looking for evidence of:
- Your current business performance.
- Your understanding of the market in which you operate.
- Examples of responses to changes in the market.
- Your vision / strategy for future development.
- The stand-out quality that makes the business a potential award winner.
